How each machine works, and which one actually fits your job

Most people don't wake up wanting a "GDC machine" or a "hydraulic power pack" — they have a casting to make, scrap to compact, or a die that needs checking before it goes into production. This guide walks through what each machine in our range actually does, the variants we build, and how to think about picking one, so you're asking the right questions before you ask for a quote.

GDC (Gravity Die Casting) Machines

Gravity die casting is one of those processes where the machine only does half the work — the rest comes down to how well the die, the pour and the cooling are matched to each other. Our GDC machines close and hold the die in position while molten metal is poured in and fills the cavity under gravity, then hold that position through solidification before the die opens and the casting is released. Because tilting angle, die temperature and cycle time all move together, we build tilting GDC machines for pours that need a controlled fill sequence, stationary GDC machines where the geometry doesn't call for tilting, and dedicated alloy wheel GDC machines sized around rim diameter and cooling load. Vertical or horizontal layout usually comes down to floor space and how your existing tooling sits — and where none of these fit as-is, we build the machine around the die you already have.

Hydraulic Press Machines

A hydraulic press is really a pump, a set of control valves and a cylinder working together to turn oil pressure into ram force — the engineering is in getting tonnage, stroke and speed right for your operation. The motor drives the pump, the valves route oil to the cylinder, the ram travels down under pressure to press, form, draw or punch, then retracts on the return stroke. We build four-column presses where a stable, evenly loaded platen matters, H-frame presses for heavy-duty shop work, C-frame presses where open-sided access speeds up loading and unloading, and dedicated presses for deep drawing, straightening, punching and rubber molding. When a customer's tonnage, bed size or automation requirement doesn't fit a standard model, we design the press around the part.

Hydraulic Balers

If you're compacting scrap metal, paper, cardboard or plastic, a baler's job is simple on paper — load the material, let a hydraulic cylinder push it into a dense, tie-able bale, and clear it out. What actually changes from customer to customer is chamber size, compression force and how material gets fed in. We size each hydraulic baler around the material stream and the bale dimensions a customer needs to move and store efficiently, because an oversized baler wastes floor space and an undersized one just means more cycles per tonne of scrap.

Hydraulic Power Packs

A power pack is the part of a hydraulic system most people never see — the motor, pump, reservoir, valves and filtration sitting behind a press, baler or cylinder, quietly generating and controlling pressure. We build standard power packs for general-purpose use, compact units where installation space is tight, high-pressure units for demanding cycles, and single- or double-acting configurations depending on whether the cylinder needs force in one direction or both. Flow rate, motor capacity, reservoir size and filtration are specified against the actual machine the power pack has to run — not picked off a shelf.

Die Spotting Press Machines

Before a die or mold goes into production, someone has to check that both halves actually meet the way the drawing says they should — that's die spotting. Our die spotting presses give toolmakers controlled opening, closing and positioning so they can inspect parting-line contact, spot high or low areas, and correct the die before it ever runs a real part. It's less about raw tonnage and more about precision and repeatable positioning, which is where most of the engineering effort on this machine goes.

Dish End Press Machines

Dish ends — the curved caps on tanks, vessels and boilers — need a press that applies even, controlled force through forming tooling without distorting the plate. Our dish end presses are built around a heavy-duty frame, a hydraulic power pack sized to the tonnage, and forming tooling matched to the dish diameter, plate thickness and forming depth an application calls for. Pressure vessel and boiler fabricators usually come to us with a plate spec and a drawing — we work back from there to the press.

Rubber Molding Machines

Molding rubber is a matter of getting compound, mold and cycle to agree with each other — the material goes into a prepared mold, the mold closes under pressure, heat and pressure hold through the curing cycle, and the finished part comes out once it's cured. We build rubber molding machines for seals, gaskets, bushes, mounts and other molded rubber components, with mold size, pressure and heating configured around the compound and the production volume a customer is running.

FRP Molding Machines

FRP — fibre-reinforced plastic — production varies a lot depending on the resin system and reinforcement in use, but the machine side follows a similar pattern: prepare the mold, place the material, close, apply pressure, cure, open, and remove the part. Our FRP molding machines are configured around the resin, the reinforcement and the component geometry a customer is producing, whether that's an enclosure, a structural part or an electrical component.

How to choose the right industrial machine

A machine that's perfect for one customer's component can be the wrong choice for another producing something slightly different. Before we quote anything, we usually end up asking about these six things — working them out in advance saves everyone a few rounds of back-and-forth.

Material

Steel, aluminium, rubber, FRP, a casting alloy, scrap — what the machine will actually process changes the design more than almost anything else.

Component size

Length, width, diameter, thickness and weight of the part or die you're working with.

Force or tonnage

For anything hydraulic, the required tonnage is usually the single biggest factor in sizing the machine.

Production volume

A machine for occasional low-volume runs looks very different from one built for continuous production.

Tooling

Die or mold dimensions need to be finalised before the machine specification is, not after.

Automation & space

Manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic operation, and how much room you actually have on the floor for the machine and its operator.
