Desire Hydraulics is a Dish End Press Machine Manufacturer engineering Hydraulic Dish End Press Machines for pressure vessel, storage tank, boiler, air receiver and process-equipment head forming, in-house at MIDC Bhosari, Pune — from approximately 150 Ton to 1500 Ton, in 4-column and multi-cylinder construction, sized to your dish diameter, plate thickness, material and profile, and tested before dispatch to manufacturers across Pune, Maharashtra, India and the UAE.
A Dish End Press Machine forms a flat circular metal blank into a dished or domed head — the curved end caps used on pressure vessels, storage tanks, boilers, air receivers, heat exchangers and chemical or pharmaceutical process equipment. It's a heavier, slower forming operation than general pressing, and the quality of the finished dish — its depth, profile accuracy and thickness distribution — depends on the machine and tooling being engineered together rather than treated as separate purchases. Desire Hydraulics manufactures and engineers Hydraulic Dish End Press Machines in-house at MIDC Bhosari, Pune, Maharashtra, with each machine built around the customer's dish diameter, plate material, thickness, forming depth and required profile.
Our dish end presses are engineered from approximately 150 Ton to 1500 Ton, with higher-capacity configurations evaluated on request. Depending on the diameter and production volume, we build in 4-column and multi-cylinder synchronized construction, with die arrangements suited to ellipsoidal, torispherical, hemispherical and toriconical profiles, adjustable stroke and daylight, PLC-based controls and blank-holding or hydraulic-cushion arrangements where the forming process needs them.
Diameter alone doesn't size a dish end press — a 500 Ton machine forming a thin stainless-steel dish for a small process vessel needs a different table, die and cylinder arrangement from a 500 Ton machine forming a thicker carbon-steel head for a larger tank. We work from the component and forming requirement first, tonnage second — the same in-house approach, from frame fabrication to cylinder testing, behind the hydraulic machines we've delivered to fabricators across Pune, Maharashtra, India and the UAE.
A Dish End Press Machine, also called a Dish End Hydraulic Press, Dish Head Press or Dished End Forming Press, is a hydraulic press configured specifically to form a flat circular metal plate into a controlled, three-dimensional dished head. It's used to manufacture the domed or curved end closures fitted to pressure vessels, storage tanks, boilers, air receivers and other fabricated industrial equipment — components that would be extremely difficult to shape by any process other than controlled hydraulic forming.
In a typical forming cycle, a circular blank is positioned on or within the lower forming die, and the hydraulic ram drives the upper die down through a controlled stroke, progressively shaping the plate into the required dome, elliptical or torispherical profile. Larger diameters and heavier plate thicknesses are often formed over several passes rather than a single stroke, sometimes with intermediate handling between passes, so the material forms evenly without excessive thinning at the crown or wrinkling at the knuckle radius.
The most important point when evaluating a dish end press is that tonnage alone doesn't describe the machine — the same press capacity can suit two very different components depending on diameter, thickness, material and profile, which is why the press and the forming die need to be specified together against the actual drawing.
The exact sequence varies with material, diameter and required depth, but a typical hydraulic dish-end forming cycle follows the stages below — manually operated for lower volumes, or coordinated by PLC and HMI controls where a fabricator is forming the same head repeatedly.
A circular blank is cut from the selected plate to the diameter required for the finished dish plus forming allowance.
The blank is inspected and, where the material and die call for it, lubricated to reduce friction against the tooling during forming.
The blank is centred accurately on the lower die or forming ring — uneven positioning at this stage can throw off wall thickness and profile symmetry later.
The hydraulic ram drives the upper die down at a controlled speed and pressure, progressively forming the plate into the required dish, dome or elliptical profile.
The ram retracts along a controlled or programmed path once the required forming depth and profile have been reached.
The dish is checked for diameter, depth, profile and thickness variation — larger or thicker blanks may return for an additional forming pass before final inspection, trimming or machining.
A dish end press is more than a big cylinder over a table — how the frame, tooling interface, hydraulic system and controls work together under sustained forming load determines whether the finished dish comes out consistent, pass after pass. The exact configuration depends on diameter, material and production volume.
The hydraulic power pack generally includes the pump, motor, reservoir, valves and filters required to generate and control the forming force, while the frame, guide columns and table must be sized to resist deflection under the full forming load — deflection here shows up directly as inconsistency in the finished dish.
Standard on every unit, and adjusted to your dish diameter, material and profile before fabrication begins.
Hydraulic cylinders sized to the actual diameter, thickness and profile — not diameter or weight guesses.
Frame and guide-column construction engineered to hold accuracy under repeated heavy forming loads.
Optional blank-holding and cushion arrangements to control material flow and reduce wrinkling on larger dishes.
Panel-mounted manual controls, with PLC-based programmable pressure, stroke and speed available for repeat production.
Die-mounting arrangements that allow multiple dish diameters or profiles to be run on the same press.
Every hydraulic cylinder and power pack is run and checked under load before the machine leaves our floor.
Every machine is engineered to the dish, not sold on tonnage alone — these are our engineering range and configuration possibilities; final values are confirmed against your component drawing.

Looking for an exact tonnage, table size or stroke? Share your dish diameter, plate thickness, material and profile and we'll size the machine against it.
A dish end press should be designed around the component's diameter, thickness and production volume, not the other way around. The right configuration depends on dish size, material, forming depth, number of passes and available floor space.
Four vertical columns guide the moving platen, giving a large, open working area and rigid, repeatable forming for medium-to-large diameters.
Multiple hydraulic cylinders working in synchronization to apply even force across large-diameter dishes.
Configured for components that need more than one forming pass — typically larger diameters or heavier-gauge plate.
A dedicated die mounted for a single, regularly repeated dish size — straightforward and cost-effective where diameter doesn't change.
Die-mounting arrangement built to accept different diameters or profiles on the same press, for fabricators producing a product range.
Programmable pressure, stroke and speed control for fabricators forming the same head repeatedly at higher volume.
These are capacity categories, not automatic application recommendations — the correct tonnage must be established from the actual dish diameter, material, thickness and profile.
| 150 Ton | Smaller-diameter dish ends, thinner-gauge stainless-steel or MS plates |
|---|---|
| 300 Ton | Medium-diameter tank & process-vessel dish ends |
| 500 Ton | Medium-to-large pressure vessel heads, carbon or stainless steel |
| 750 Ton | Larger-diameter or thicker-gauge dish ends |
| 1000 Ton | Heavy-duty pressure vessel & boiler head forming |
| 1500 Ton | Large-diameter, heavy-thickness vessel heads & tank ends |
Customized higher-capacity solutions are evaluated according to the application. Don't know your required tonnage? Send your dish diameter, thickness and material and we'll evaluate it for you.
"What tonnage dish end press do I need?" doesn't have a single-formula answer the way a shearing or blanking operation sometimes does. Dish forming is a deep-drawing / stretch-forming process, and the required force depends on how the material actually behaves as it's drawn over the die — not on diameter or plate weight alone.
Dish end presses are used wherever a formed metal head or vessel closure is required. Suitability depends on the material, diameter, thickness and required profile.

Formed heads and end components used in boiler manufacturing, depending on the boiler design.
Dished heads for compressed-air receiver tanks used in industrial air systems.
Stainless-steel and alloy-steel dished heads for chemical and process-industry vessels.
