A Hydraulic Power Pack is the central power source of a Hydraulic system. It generates, controls and supplies pressurized Hydraulic fluid to Hydraulic cylinders, Hydraulic motors and other actuators used in industrial machinery. A properly designed Hydraulic Power Pack combines the Hydraulic pump, electric motor, oil reservoir, valves, filters, pressure controls and manifolds into a single functional unit. Desire Hydraulics manufactures Hydraulic Power Packs in-house at MIDC Bhosari, Pune, Maharashtra, for Hydraulic Press Machines, material handling equipment, manufacturing systems and customized industrial applications.
Our Hydraulic Power Packs are designed according to the required pressure, flow rate, motor capacity, reservoir size, cylinder requirement, operating cycle and machine application. Because the pump, motor, reservoir, valves and controls are all built on our own floor, we can configure a Standard, Compact, High-Pressure, Single-Acting, Double-Acting, Automatic, Mobile or Special Customized Hydraulic Power Pack around your machine rather than fitting your job to a fixed catalogue unit.
Every reservoir, manifold, pump and control panel is fabricated, assembled and tested at MIDC Bhosari before a Power Pack is cleared for dispatch — the same in-house approach behind the 5,000+ hydraulic machines we've delivered to customers across Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Gujarat, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kerala, Maharashtra, India and the UAE.
A Hydraulic Power Pack, also known as a Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU), is an integrated assembly that generates Hydraulic power and delivers controlled Hydraulic fluid to a machine. Unlike a Hydraulic cylinder, which converts Hydraulic energy into linear mechanical movement, the Power Pack generates the Hydraulic energy required by the system.
A typical Hydraulic Power Pack consists of an electric motor, Hydraulic pump, oil reservoir, pressure relief valve, directional control valve, flow control valve, pressure gauge, manifold, suction strainer, return line filter, breather, hoses and fittings, an electrical control panel and, where required, an oil cooler and accumulator. The exact configuration depends on the application — a small Power Pack for a compact machine needs a relatively small reservoir, motor and pump, while a heavy industrial system may need a larger tank, higher-capacity pump, cooling system, filtration, multiple valves and advanced controls.
Modern Hydraulic Power Units can also incorporate sensors, electronic controls and condition-monitoring functions for more precise operation, with newer power-unit architectures incorporating pump management and electronically controlled motor-pump assemblies for applications that need it.
The working principle of a Hydraulic Power Pack is based on converting mechanical or electrical energy into Hydraulic energy. The basic operating sequence consists of the following stages.
The electric motor receives electrical power from the machine's control system and rotates the Hydraulic pump. Motor capacity is selected according to the required Hydraulic pressure, flow and duty cycle.
The Hydraulic pump draws Hydraulic oil from the reservoir through the suction line. The pump does not create pressure by itself the way a compressor does — instead it creates fluid flow, and pressure develops when that flow meets resistance from the circuit and the connected load.
The rotating pump — gear, vane, axial piston or radial piston, selected for the required pressure, flow, efficiency and noise level — transfers Hydraulic oil into the pressure line.
Hydraulic valves regulate how the oil moves through the system. A pressure relief valve protects the system against excessive pressure, directional control valves determine whether the cylinder extends or retracts, and flow-control components can regulate actuator speed.
The controlled Hydraulic oil is supplied to the connected cylinder or motor, which converts fluid pressure into mechanical work — pressing, lifting, clamping, bending, punching, cutting, forming, tilting, opening and closing or positioning, depending on the machine.
After completing its work, the Hydraulic fluid returns through the return line, passing through a filter and cooler where fitted, before it returns to the reservoir and the cycle repeats.
A Hydraulic Power Pack is more than a motor and a pump — its performance depends on how the motor, pump, reservoir, valves, filtration and controls work together. The exact configuration depends on the machine type and the customer's requirement.
A small Power Pack for a compact machine needs a relatively small reservoir, motor and pump, while a heavy industrial system may need a larger tank, higher-capacity pump, cooling system, filtration, multiple valves and advanced controls.
Standard on every unit, and adjusted to your pressure, flow and application before fabrication begins.
Pump, motor and reservoir sized to the actual pressure, flow rate and duty cycle your actuator needs.
Space-efficient layouts for tight installations, or standard industrial builds where footprint isn't a constraint.
Relief, directional and flow-control valves selected to protect the system and control actuator speed.
Straightforward panel-mounted controls as standard, with solenoid, proportional or PLC-based automation on request.
Suction strainers and return line filters as standard, with oil coolers and accumulators added where the duty cycle needs them.
Every motor, pump and valve assembly is run and checked under load before it leaves our floor.
Every Power Pack is engineered to the application rather than sold on motor size alone — these ranges reflect what we commonly build; exact figures are confirmed against your machine requirement.

Hydraulic Power Packs can be classified by construction, power source, pressure, control system and application. The right configuration depends on the connected actuator, required pressure and flow, duty cycle and installation space.
A motor, pump, reservoir, valves, filter, pressure gauge and manifold combined for conventional industrial applications.
A space-efficient arrangement of components designed where installation space is limited, without compromising pressure, flow or reliability.
Built with a pump, motor, valves, manifold, hoses, fittings, seals and reservoir all rated for higher Hydraulic pressure.
Supplies Hydraulic oil to extend the cylinder, while return movement is produced by spring, gravity, external force or machine load.
Supplies Hydraulic fluid to both sides of a double-acting cylinder, allowing controlled movement during both extension and retraction.
Sized to supply the pressure and flow required by the pressing cycle, controlling ram movement, pressing force, speed and holding pressure.
Selected according to cylinder bore, rod diameter, required force, stroke length, extension/retraction speed and duty cycle.
Designed around the specific requirements of a machine rather than a fixed standard configuration.
Incorporates electrical or electronic controls to automate the Hydraulic cycle for the connected machine.
Designed for equipment that moves or operates away from a fixed industrial installation.
Hydraulic Power Packs are used across a wide range of industries because Hydraulic systems can provide high force and controlled movement. Applications depend on the connected actuator, pressure, flow and duty cycle.
Operating presses, clamping systems, forming machines and special-purpose machinery.
Pressing, component forming, lifting, testing and assembly equipment.
Machine tools, industrial automation, material handling and fabrication machinery.
Providing the Hydraulic energy required for pressing, bending, punching and forming.
Controlled pressure and flow for different pressing operations and cycle sequences.
Operating lifting, tilting and positioning mechanisms.
Power for various actuation and auxiliary functions, depending on machine architecture.
Customized Power Packs for machines with unique pressure, flow, space or automation requirements.
A wide range of clamping, positioning and force-application operations across sectors.
A properly designed Hydraulic Power Pack offers several advantages when it's correctly matched to the connected machine.
Hydraulic systems can produce substantial force from relatively compact components.
Pressure and flow can be controlled to achieve the required actuator movement.
Power Packs can be designed for different pressures, flow rates, cylinders and operating cycles.
Integrated assemblies can reduce the number of separate components installed on the machine.
Connects to cylinders, motors and other Hydraulic circuits through suitable valves, hoses and manifolds.
Reservoir, pump, motor, valves and controls selected per application, with PLC systems available.
Choosing a Hydraulic Power Pack should begin with the requirements of the connected machine, not the size of the motor.
